Which documents can ImageHush clean?

The current tool accepts PDF, DOCX, XLSX and PPTX files up to 40 MB. These formats store metadata differently, so the fields and limits depend on the document type.

Why are some documents blocked?

ImageHush stops when it finds an encrypted file, Office macros or a digital signature. Rewriting those documents could break security features, invalidate a signature or alter behavior that the browser tool cannot safely preserve.

What stays in the document?

Pages and visible content stay in place. External links, embedded files, PDF attachments and document actions can remain because they are outside the current cleanup scope. When supported, ImageHush reports those items so you know they are still present.

Cleaning metadata is not redaction

Metadata cleanup does not remove sensitive text that is visible on a page. It also does not guarantee removal of hidden layers, attachments, scripts, malware or records stored by a cloud provider. Use a dedicated redaction and security review process for highly sensitive files.

How we test document cleanup

The automated test suite creates DOCX, XLSX, PPTX and PDF fixtures containing supported metadata fields. It cleans each fixture, opens the generated copy and checks that the targeted fields are no longer reported. The tests also check retained content and blocked cases where appropriate.

Keep the original

ImageHush gives you a separate download and does not overwrite the original. Open the cleaner copy in its normal application and check important layouts, links, comments and advanced features before relying on it.
