What does the EXIF remover check?
ImageHush checks supported structures in JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF, AVIF, HEIC, HEIF and TIFF files. The results are grouped into information people can understand instead of showing a long list of raw tags.

- EXIF
- Camera details, software, orientation and other supported EXIF fields.
- GPS
- Supported location directories and coordinate-related fields.
- XMP and IPTC
- Supported editing, publishing, Photoshop resource, caption and attribution metadata.
- Comments
- Supported text and comment blocks stored with the image.
- Content Credentials
- Embedded C2PA data that the current scanner can identify.
- Image properties
- Dimensions and visible orientation used to create the new copy.
What happens to the picture?
The original file is never overwritten. Normally oriented JPG files use a binary cleanup path that preserves the compressed image data. If a JPG depends on its EXIF orientation tag, ImageHush uses a fresh export so the downloaded picture does not unexpectedly rotate.
GIF metadata is removed without flattening the animation. PNG uses lossless pixel export. WebP, AVIF, HEIC, HEIF and TIFF files are decoded locally and exported to a suitable sharing format. A different output format can change compression, color handling and file size, so compare important results with the original.
How we check the cleaner copy
After export, ImageHush runs the same supported metadata scan on the new file. The download is shown only when that scan does not find supported EXIF, GPS, XMP, IPTC, comment or embedded C2PA groups. This check is useful, but it is not a claim that every possible private signal has been removed.
What EXIF removal cannot do
Removing metadata does not hide a face, street sign, reflection or location visible in the picture. It does not erase files already published, remove invisible pixel watermarks such as SynthID or control how another platform labels an upload.
